Before ArtCars on Ice, people can warm up at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave. S., for a pancake brunch prepared and served by ArtCar artists. Brunch donations ($5-$10) benefit the 12th Annual ArtCar Parade on July 22. At the brunch, visitors can check out the newly launched Adopt-An-ArtCar campaign and be the first to adopt an ArtCar for the 2006 parade. The ArtCars are at it again in this annual pilgrimage to the frozen "streets" of the Art Shanty Projects on Medicine Lake. Check out everyone's favorite ArtCars and other wheeled contraptions as they bundle up and brave the cold to bring the only parade in the world to take place on a frozen lake (that we know about). From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., spectators will enjoy coffee and hot chocolate fresh from John Sherrell's Coffee Gallery. The Art Shanty Projects, presented by The Soap Factory, are part art gallery, part residency and part sculpture park, inspired by the tradition of ice fishing and ice fishing houses used in the Minnesota winter. Adam Cvijanovic, from New York, will premiere a monumental 30 x 15-foot oil painting, along with related paintings; this is his first exhibition in Minnesota.
