Dear M—
I got an invite to the Blue State Ball Saturday night and me and missus drove way up Central to Columbia Manor, where the parking lot was packed full of vehicles with Air America bumper stickers. We drove around and around looking for a parking space in the lot (liberals seem to have a “liberal” view of the size and placement of parking stalls) before giving up and crossing back over Central to a side street, where we found a spot around the corner from a coffee shop.

I guess a lot of people had the same idea as we did, because the grand old golf clubhouse was packed with progressives, all milling about and celebrating like Kerry had actually won or something. Some band was playing songs from our teen years and a lot of folks who should have known better were contorting on the dance floor in a way that would’ve embarrassed their children (or grandchildren!). Anyway, there was no place to sit, so we were left to wander about in the cacophony with no particular achievable goal in mind--short of avoiding the kind of embarrassment previously mentioned.

We did run into a Library Board member, a secretary of state candidate, and a U.S. Senate wannabe, but it was too loud to actually carry on a conversation, so we just kind of moved on.

I guess we lasted about 20 minutes, which was enough time to catch a glimpse of what seems to be a resurgent liberalism hereabouts. And that’s good news for the Dems, I suppose. But too many people and too much noise makes for a bad party, if you ask me.
