In fairness to same-sex couples who are not allowed to legally marry, Lyndale United Church of Christ announced earlier this month that it will no longer perform opposite-gender civil marriages.

Couples can still be married at the 12-year-old church, explained LUCC moderator Michael Vanderford in Pulse, but they would need to go before a justice of the peace in order for the state to recognize the nuptials as a civil marriage. “We can no longer discriminate against members of our congregation,” said Vanderford.
